Why Grand Prairie ISD Teachers Shouldn't Have to Fundraise to Educate Our Children
As a candidate for Grand Prairie ISD School Board District 6, I firmly believe that our teachers should not have to fundraise or ask for donations to educate our children. It is the responsibility of the district to ensure that our teachers have the resources, tools and support they need to serve their students from the outset.
Teachers have enough to worry about without having to constantly fundraise or ask for donations. They must prepare lesson plans, grade assignments, manage behavior, and provide support to their students both in and out of the classroom. When teachers are forced to spend their time and energy on fundraising, it takes away from their ability to focus on the core mission of education.
Moreover, fundraising places an undue burden on our teachers, many of whom are already struggling to make ends meet. As a result, we risk losing talented and dedicated educators who simply cannot afford to continue working in our schools.
To address this issue, the district must take a proactive approach to providing resources and support to our teachers. This includes providing adequate funding for classroom supplies, technology, and other resources that are essential to effective teaching. It also means supporting our teachers with ongoing professional development opportunities, mentorship programs, and other forms of support that can help them succeed in their roles.
At the end of the day, our teachers are the backbone of our education system, and we must do everything we can to support them in their important work. By prioritizing the needs of our teachers and ensuring that they have the resources and support they need, we can create a better future for our students and our community.
